Gloria Lesher: Ghostwriter with the Golden Pen

Named a first place winner of the national Golden Pen award, Gloria has a reputation as the “Ghostwriter with the Golden Pen.” She helps MMI clients get published and win publicity with well-crafted speeches, award nominations, and articles. Interviewing clients and writing their stories gives Gloria the opportunity for lifelong learning, which is something she values. Her articles for clients have been published in dozens of national and regional magazines, trade publications and books.

Gloria earned a bachelor of art degree in English and journalism, followed by a master’s in English from the University of Northern Colorado. A self-described “aging baby boomer,” Gloria lives in Clayton with her husband, Robert Lesher. She has the distinction of being the only one on the entire MMI staff who can boast about grandchildren!

Gloria and Bob belong to Toastmasters International, attend Christ Episcopal Church and are active in the Triangle Yale Club, an educational nonprofit that provides information and events to Yale alumni and parents of students. The top charitable cause which the couple supports is the Alpha-1 Foundation, dedicated to providing the leadership and resources that will result in increased research, improved health, worldwide detection, and a cure for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a hereditary condition which may result in serious lung disease in adults and/or liver disease in infants, children and adults.

Public Relations for the N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) U.S. 1/64

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
