Kate Catlin: A People Person
Kate Catlin loves PR because she’s a born people person. Her work as an account executive at MMI gives her the opportunity to interact with plenty of people every day. Kate is good at remembering names and all kinds of facts about the people she meets. Can’t remember who you talked to at the Big Benefit last night? Ask Kate!
How many people can say that they were selected to carry the Olympic torch? Kate can. She has been very active in the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE), an organization that empowers students to be leaders as they teach other students about alternatives to violence. Because of her efforts for the organization, Kate was nominated and selected to be a Torchbearer for the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Torch Relay to Salt Lake. Passionate for the cause, Kate spends her time serving on the SAVE board of directors and as an ambassador for the organization.
A sports fanatic and a die hard Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, Kate is originally from Massachusetts — if you haven’t already guessed. To see how the world of sports intersects with the world of PR, read Kate’s blog.
A graduate of Elon University with a degree in Corporate Communications, Kate thrives in a fast-paced environment. Because she has demonstrated strong leadership in improving the lives of North Carolinians, especially in the areas of business, community service, healthcare and physical fitness, Kate was recently recognized by The Women’s forum of North Carolina as a finalist for the 2007 Young Adult Leadership Award.
MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
