Michelle Wingate: Always Lends a Hand
Who has worked at MMI longer than anybody? Michelle Wingate. We used to call her the “Traffic Girl.” Handling the traffic of dozens of news releases and client clips every day is one of the most tedious — and most critical — functions at any PR agency. News releases are our industry’s bread and butter.
These days Michelle is an account executive who concentrates on clients in the real estate industry. Michelle handles publicity for one of the area’s largest full-service real estate brokerage firms as well as many major residential and mixed-use communities throughout the United States. She has a reputation as a team player who never complains and is always there to lend a helping hand to another MMI account executive facing a challenge.
A Raleigh native, Michelle earned her B.A. in Communication Studies from Peace College. She was an intern at MMI as a college student. In fact, Michelle was such an outstanding intern that when she graduated, MMI offered her a position — something that rarely happens. Michelle went from working as an intern to working as an account executive without a single day of vacation or a break.
Is Michelle a workhorse? Yeah. But she’s got a playful side, too. Michelle’s philosophy of life and work has made her the best of the best, because her motto is you don’t let your friends down, and you stay positive through the worst of times and every public relations crisis.
MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
