4/12/06 Today With Patty ...

The Coldwell Banker Building Open House last night was a smash! All the invited elected officials came—the mayor, the city council and several senators. The landmark 1955 building was crowded with people enjoying delicious hors d’oeurvres and wine, listening to fabulous fifties music and admiring the expert restoration.

The performance by the North Carolina Theatre’s Kids on Broadway was awesome. These kids make the American Idol kids look like amateurs.

All of the MMI staff were amazing and did such a wonderful job. Even Kipp—who doesn’t particularly like doing events—handled his responsibilities like a pro. With her champagne blonde wig and sexy dress, Kate was the belle of the ball as Marilyn Monroe, and people stood in line to have their picture taken with her and Elvis. The only unhappy person last night was Elvis, who was disappointed that he didn’t get to sing.

Today Nicole and I went to Wal-Mart to buy $1000 worth of door prizes and stuff for another client event. I bought televisions, iPods, cameras, DVDs and a gas grill, but the Wal-Mart employees couldn’t be bothered to help us. We asked to have someone called to Electronics, but no one came. I finally found the Electronics girl myself, over at the DVD section. Her attitude was that if it weren’t for all these customers, she could get so much work done.

There’s Something About Mari … Most people don’t know this, but Mari has absolutely no friends. Her mother has always had to pay girls to be Mari’s friend. Every month, Mari’s mom sends me a check. A BIG check! If the check is late, I drop Mari.
