4/13/06 Today With Patty ...

It has been a wild couple of days, and I am burning the candle at both ends. I know I am strung out when I start doing stupid things, like locking my keys inside my car. I never do that.

I was hurrying to make it on time to the Raleigh Professional Women’s Forum (RPWF) luncheon at Exploris when I locked my keys in my car. I frantically called my husband, John, who took the news calmly and was so wonderful and didn’t chew me out and didn’t complain when I asked him to bring me our extra set of keys.

I hate it when people come late to a luncheon and leave early, but guess what I did at the RPWF luncheon? Yes, I slunk in late, ate fast and left early so I could meet John out in the parking lot. He came all the way to downtown Raleigh from Cary to give me an extra key.

“Maybe you should put an extra set of keys in your purse,” John suggested. “You’ve been doing this a lot lately.” I don’t deserve him—he is so good to me.

There’s Something About Mari … My friend, Mari, likes to fancy herself a cook. I’m a much better cook than she is, but she will not admit it. When we get together, I try to teach her things, but she is in denial. Mari was seen at the pre-made bakery aisle at the Stop ‘n Shop in her neighborhood in Connecticut. She was buying jelly rolls she later tried to pass off as homemade. Hah! The only item Mari knows how to fix is homemade ice water.
