4/24/06 Today With Patty ...

Friday night at one of the Triangle business community’s most anticipated events of the year, the 40 Under 40 Leadership Gala, 7 (yes! count ‘em—seven!) MMI clients were recognized among the top 40 business leaders under the age of 40 by the Triangle Business Journal. Everyone had a marvelous time, and aren’t we fortunate to have such quality clients?

Speaking of age, our own Candy is “50 and fabulous” and we celebrated her birthday today in true MMI fashion, with a cake that according to Kipp had a good “icing-to-cake” ratio. It was so good, everyone is on a sugar high here. Top secret preparations for this morning have gone on for the past month. We gave Candy a fancy proofreading pen, a hand mirror and a gift certificate for a spa package from Iatria Spa and Health Center.

We welcome our new account executive, Ryal Curtis, who started work today and enjoyed a piece of birthday cake and his first-ever order of take-out lunch from a Chick-fil-A restaurant. Here at MMI we often order out and work through lunch. Ryal is getting his first “taste” of working at MMI in more ways than one!

Kate and I are busily preparing for the WPO conference coming up this week. Eaton’s Suzanne Burns, one of the WPO conference sponsors, invited us to a cruise on Lake Michigan Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, Kate and I were already committed to a WPO planning meeting that night. I can’t understand why Suzanne refused to consider moving her 500 cruise guests to Wednesday evening so Kate and I could participate.
