4/4/06 Today With Patty ...

Alas and alack, sickness has returned to MMI. Kate was hurling this morning and ripped a stitch from her wisdom teeth surgery, so we sent her away. MMI has a “no hurling at the office” rule because:

  • Hurling is disgusting
  • We don’t do bodily fluids in the PR business
  • Our bathroom’s walls aren’t completely soundproof

Kate is back at work now, insisting that she feels better, the dentist fixed her stitch and besides, she has a meeting with Ragsdale Liggett that she does not want to miss.

What a dedicated employee! Kate, by the way, just received a copy at the Council Meeting today of her official appointment to Raleigh’s Convention Center Commission. It was signed by Mayor Meeker and had an official gold seal and everything.

I went to breakfast with N&O reporters Sue Stock and Jack Hagel. Sue and I both love breakfast and we always have a good time. It was also nice to get to know Jack better. Another benefit is that since they both work at the N&O, protocol says I can’t pick up the check. The reporter I would really like to meet is David Rani, who covers PR & Marketing for the N&O.

Today I had lunch with Diane Kuehn and Jamie Nunnelly and learned about podcasting and videocasting. Guess what—MMI will be the first PR agency in the Triangle to use these tools, which have tremendous applications for our clients. I hate technology, and it hates me, but with Diane and Kipp on MMI’s side, we will stay ahead of the curve.
