At the Pinnacle Awards last night, MMI had not one, not two, not three—but FIVE clients who were recognized at one of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s most prestigious events.
I had no time to bask in my clients’ glory, however, because I was “working the room.” I go to dozens of these functions every week, and my office has started a contest to name what I will have for dinner events. It’s always chicken, but the vegetable varies—broccoli, squash or asparagus. If it’s a lunch, the vegetables deteriorate to the more humble level of green beans and carrots.
Today it is high tea and crumpets for Mary Cantando’s Raleigh launch of her new book, The Woman’s Advantage: 20 Women Entrepreneurs Show You What it Takes to Grow Your Business. The tea party is being held at The Matthews House, a stately, Greek revival mansion nestled among giant oaks and flower gardens on Cary’s historic Chatham Street. Some of the Triangle’s most successful and influential businesswomen will be there. Why I am going is a mystery, but hey, there won’t be chicken.
I spoke with a prospective client today. They are great people, but I’m afraid I scared the bejeezus out of them, because I am so bossy. I don’t think they will decide to become my client. Oh well, I am what I am.
Tomorrow Nicole and I will fly off to see our new clients, New York City-based Sarah Merians Photography & Company, who are celebrating their 20th Anniversary in business with a big party at their 8,000-square-foot loft located at 104 Fifth Ave. Top event planners and celebrities will be there, and we will get to see some of the newest trends in wedding and event photography, including album styles from Australia, Japan and California, and the latest trends in decor, entertaining and music. We have lots of media coming. I will tell you more when we get back.
There’s Something About Mari … Mari sent me an email that said, in part, “You need to report to your readers that the ‘nuclear room’ has been transformed into a bedroom with a real closet and is now a holding area for packed boxes for moving and toys for the grandchildren …” Mari ended her email by saying, “I don’t even like you, never did and never will!”
As you can see, Mari is so sweet. She’s my oldest friend, and sometimes I like her as much as my young friends.

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
