PART I

Today Nicole and I are in the Big Apple to see Sarah Merians Photography & Company, a client that is marking their 20th Anniversary in business with a gala celebration full of celebrities at their posh 8,000-square-foot loft on Fifth Ave.

I got up at 3 a.m. to make our 7 a.m. flight, and Nicole and I are both tired. I drank a lot of coffee this morning, but it didn’t even make me talk really fast.

In NYC, our cab driver was so busy talking on his cell phone that he missed his turn and our ride was longer than necessary. The Hotel Pennsylvania at West 32nd Street sucks. Harry, the bellboy who took our luggage, demanded $16 to store our bags because we arrived before check-in. I talked him down to $8.00. When I whipped out my credit card, Harry’s eyes widened.

“What, you don’t have cash?” Harry asked.

I told him I needed to conserve my cash. When Harry said he couldn’t take a credit card, I threatened to report him to the I.R.S.

Our next adventure was the subway. Nicole got excited and jumped on the wrong train, and of course I followed since I am responsible for this NYC-newbie. But we got off at the next stop and backtracked.

After some quick shopping on Canal St., we went to Chinatown to nosh on Vietnamese spring rolls accompanied by Chinese beer. Right now I need a nap, but Nicole is just getting started. Stay tuned for Part II.
