I have African Sleeping Sickness. I spent all day yesterday napping through that lovely thunderstorm, and today my body tells me it would like a repeat performance.
However, today I have been in the office the entire day, interviewing potential employees. It never ceases to amaze me what people will tell you in an interview. For example, if you ask candidates to rate their interest in a prospective position on a scale from 1 to 10—with 10 indicating “strong interest”—how do these candidates expect me to respond when they say “7”?
Hey honey, if my open position is only a “7” to you, you are maybe a “3” on my preference list.
One applicant asked the MMI staff interviewing her whether they thought she should take the MMI job or another one at a company that she named specifically. Number 1) We hadn’t offered this person the position yet, and Number 2) Guess what our answer was?
Is it too much to ask that an applicant show interest, enthusiasm and know something about the position, the industry and the company for which she or he is interviewing? I am sorry to let PR hopefuls know the raw truth that PR is not a 9 to 5 job, so if you aren’t prepared to work the hours, this isn’t the profession for you.
In other company news, Ryal has gone to the Kipp Bodnar School of Hair Design and now is sporting a velvet-touch buzz cut just like Kipp’s. Our most favorite former employee, Allison, stopped by to say hello, and it was so good to see her. And Miss Nicole has finished packing and is all ready to move into her new apartment, after having lined up a bunch of strong backs with weak minds to assist her.

The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
