6/6/06 Today With Patty ...

Early this morning I took my mom to the airport. The blast we had in Ireland is catching up to me. I’m way behind in my work and I will probably be here at the office for half the night.

I rested my head just for a moment at my desk, and my alarmed staff all started saying, “What’s wrong, Patty?” “Are you okay?”

Nothing is wrong. I just want to stay in my pajamas for a whole day, sit around and do nothing.

There’s Something About Mari … Mari is my oldest friend—with the emphasis on “old.” She lives in a house that was built in pre-Revolutionary times, and it is my understanding that George Washington slept there. Don’t believe the rumors about him and Mari, though.

Maybe I will buy Mari a new hand bag for her birthday, which is coming up this month. She keeps hand bags forever and never throws one away. Even a bag lady wouldn’t be caught with one of Mari’s old hand bags.

Mari’s lack of housekeeping skills is legendary and cooking isn’t her strong suit, either. Her kids grew up eating fried spam for breakfast, cold spam for lunch and baked spam for dinner. The one thing Mari knows how to do well is be a school nurse. She studied under Clara Barton, you know.
