Ryal has passed on the current office “bug” to me, and I am now suffering (in silence, as usual) with a sore throat and an intense and all-consuming desire to go to bed and sleep all weekend. I’m thinking strongly of curling up with my cat, Katie Scarlett, and a comforting bottle of Nyquil.
This morning, I participated on a panel for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce about practical and effective marketing solutions that can be immediately implemented in a business. Other panel members included Diane Kuehn, president and CEO of VisionPoint Marketing, and Jim Tobin, partner at Brogan & Partners Convergence Marketing. I enjoyed the panel and always have fun with Diane and Jim. Linda Leake, president of execUchange, was our fabulous moderator.
One of the topics we discussed was blogging, and some people came up to me after the meeting to tell me they read the MMI blog regularly. This happens to me all the time now. I’m really feeling the pressure to perform, folks.
After the panel, I headed for my office and got out of my car with my cell phone at my ear, carrying a big plastic tub full of paperwork and two full shopping bags. God forbid I should make two trips, right? My building is being painted, and the painters had ladders and buckets everywhere, but I never dreamed the knuckleheads would paint the trim on my front door and neglect to put up a warning sign. Upon opening the door, I realized I had sticky paint all over my hands. I was so flustered that I tripped and dropped my bags. Paper towels and toilet paper spilled all over the entryway, and I yelled, “Kipp!”
Kipp came flying down the stairs to the rescue. “Just go upstairs and wash your hands,” Kipp said. “I’ll take care of everything.” My hero.
I stifled my impulse to chew out the knucklehead painters and made my apologies to the confused person I had been talking to on my cell phone. Then I went upstairs to make my own “Wet Paint” sign. Why do these things happen to me?

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
