Yesterday was the day from hell, when everything that could have gone wrong did. I’m hoping for better things today.
This is “Day Three Without Kipp.” I am missing him and going through withdrawal pains. To make me feel better, the rest of the staff have been joking around a lot, picking on each other and calling each other names, which is the MMI way of having fun.
So this morning I needed to have some cases of water bottles moved and I looked at Ryal and said, “I need a big strong man to help me move these cases of water.”
Candy, who couldn’t see us from where she sat and who has a bad back anyway, said, “Rob will be here in 10 minutes.”
Ryal is constantly picked on and he had come in this morning wearing his Miami Vice sunglasses, so he said, “It’s the sunglasses, right?” Candy then spent 20 minutes apologizing and explaining how she had not been able to see him.
Nicole has been sick and this morning she took some cold medicine that made her a bit drowsy, so we have been kidding her about drinking on the job. Yesterday, Nicole drove me to my meeting after my car broke down. We took her SUV and guys honked and waved at us. Do you remember me blogging about Nicole riding with me in my convertible, with the top down, and all the honks and whistles we got? I think I have finally figured out that all this attention is not about me, or my convertible. I have to admit that it’s all about Nicole—although everyone knows how hot I am.
Speaking of hot babes, my friend Sandy was out riding her bicycle as usual in the 110 degree heat in Phoenix, when she remembered she was supposed to take her brother to the airport. So she high-tailed it home, jumped in her car all sweaty and smelly, picked up her brother and raced to the airport.
She drove illegally in the HOV lane—shocking behavior for Sandy, because she’s always been such a rule-follower. They went flying over a speed bump and their side airbags deployed! Now I ask you, how fast do you have to drive to make that happen?
Sandy is the Managing Partner of Abalos & Associates, P.C., a full service CPA firm. She is an expert at playing Ethel Mertz to my Lucy Ricardo, reluctantly going along with all my hare-brained schemes. Oh, the stories I could tell you about me and Sandy …

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
