Today we celebrated Ryal’s promotion to Account Executive with Carolina Cafe blue cupcakes. When Ryal started at MMI, we’d planned to give him 3-4 weeks of training, but that was not to be. The demands of our client workload required us to throw him to the lions. But Ryal has handled it all like a champ, taking on more and more clients.
MMI is growing, and we have hired two new junior account coordinators, Kate and Elizabeth. Allison is back from sabbatical, and all of us have the attitude of “Bring it on!” We’re ready to manage the growth.
Today Patty drove out to Roanoke Rapids to see the people at Carolina Crossroads. I just spoke with her on the phone, and she said she almost got killed twice on the way. At least she’s driving her prized convertible, which is back from the shop.
Patty said she learned her lesson from Nicole about running out of gas, so when the dashboard light came on, she immediately pulled into a gas station. “Why does gas cost $3.00 a gallon?” she asked me. I had no answer. Why is the sky blue?
Patty met with Managing Editor John Moeur of the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald. “What a class act,” she said. “He was so gracious, so nice.” She was seriously in a good mood because she has just found out MMI has won a major award. I can’t talk about it yet, though. There are lots of things in PR we can’t talk about.
Our coffee pot died this morning, and we held a funeral service. Ryal went across the street and brought Patty some gas station coffee before she left for Roanoke Rapids. Ryal, the hero of the day. Just goes to show you that no matter how good you get, the boss may still ask you to get her coffee.
