Do you love Google? I do! I use it everyday! Even if I know the website I want to go to, or even if I have that site bookmarked already, I tend to Google search it anyway. It is a crutch and a miracle! Tonight I was looking for some real estate industry information so I ‘Googled’ NAR. Now, I was hoping for the National Association of Realtors website, that happens to be bookmarked in my bar, but oh well….it is funny and fascinating what appears when I sent the search spiders out!
Top of the list was financial/stock market info.
Next was www.Realtor.org, which I was searching for, but 3rd, 4th and 5th were pretty interesting!
3rd was: www.nar.org – The NAR is the oldest and largest sport rocketry organization in the world! Well that is pretty cool! I played on that site for awhile!
4th was: www.nar.oxfordjournals.org – Nucleic Acids Research (NAR) – a fully Open Access journal, providing rapid publication of leading edge research into the nucleic acids under the following categories: chemistry, computational biology, genomics, molecular biology, nucleic acid enzymes, RNA and structural biology. Neat, huh?
5th was: www.nar-anon.org – The Nar-Anon Family Groups are a worldwide fellowship for those affected by someone else¹s addiction. Also good information!
What do you see when you Google yourself. What do you see when you Google your agents? Give it a try. The results are amazing. Keep in mind that what pops up in the search results are the SAME things that pop up when buyers and sellers ‘Google’ too. The internet can be a great source of information but you want the KNOW what info is available about you. I Googled some of our agents, just random names that came to mind and it was really impressive! Many of the ones I searched were on LinkedIn – a business-oriented networking site and some were on MySpace – a social networking sight. Like the rest of the internet addicted world, the real estate is trending toward Web 2.0… the second generation of web-based communities and hosted services ‹ such as social-networking sites, wikis, and the blogosphere – which aim to facilitate creativity, collaboration, and sharing between users. Real estate agents are realizing the endless possibility of reaching buyers and sellers on the web through social networking. It¹s free and it¹s personal and it’s COOL! Where are the buyers and sellers? The same place everyone else is…on the web! Looking at homes, shopping for agents, and talking, talking, talking, to each other!
Consumers, like myself, are “Googling” to their hearts’ content for any and everything they need to research! And so that is where our real estate agents must go to stay in front of the competition…boldy into Web 2.0!
