This past week has been one of the busiest weeks in recent memory in terms of web company acquisitions. CBS bought Last.fm, eBay bought StumbleUpon and Google continued their acquisition streak. It seems that many major corporations are working to buy themselves into the Web 2.0 and social media space. I won’t comment on the validity of these moves, but instead raise the question of another bubble. I really believe one is forming, not to say that there aren’t great Web 2.0 companies. However, many companies are going to sell at high prices and never reach their potential and will not have a strong enough market to support them. Maybe things will level off, but I am predicting a hot summer of acquisitions that will further inflate prices.
