At our Thanksgiving family reunion we had a crew of 18 people ranging in age from 10 to 77. With such a big group and wide age range I never thought we would find a game for everyone to play at once, much less a game everyone would enjoy. We ended up playing Apples to Apples the first night we were there and had a blast. Although the game claims that it is for 4-10 players, Allison has played with 3 and I have played with 18, we both had a blast.
So this is how it works… Everyone gets 7 red, noun cards – they range from Saddam Hussein to the IRS to freckles. You then go around and each person gets a turn to be the “judge.” The judge picks one green, adjective card and reads it to the group. Everyone has to put, facedown, the red card that best matches that adjective. The judge then goes through the red cards deciding which one they feel is best defined by the green card. They give that person the green card, the person who gets three green cards first is the winner. The trick is to think about the judge and what THEY would think, not necessarily what you would think. We had a lot of fun playing, I would recommend it to any age group.
