I always claim to be from Boone, North Carolina, probably because I’m a southern girl at heart. But, I am actually Florida-born and bred. Although, I have no distinguishable southern accent like many of my friends, very few of the people I know ever remember that I was born in Daytona, Florida. My family was always car obsessed and many nights I would fall asleep in the back of the latest hot-rod that my parents were working on to the humming of the welder. Determined to help, I was often given jobs that either no one else could fit into or something out of the way such as washing tires, since I was only as big as some of them.
