I had a bad day. Patty said I should blog about this. Maybe it will be good to get it out of my system.
Today, my daughter and her fiancé started their journey to Jamaica to get married. They were supposed to fly from Nashville to Jamaica via Atlanta. By now, they should have been on the beach. Whatever happened to customer service and accurate information? Months ago, Katie contacted the airlines to determine what records they needed for travel (passports are not required for Jamaica). Turns out, the airline representative (the airline will go unnamed – for now) gave them inaccurate information. The people in Nashville let them go; but those dang people in Atlanta refused them boarding.
To make a long story short (and to eliminate any more tears from clouding my eyes today), everything is ok now. Katie and Jason are spending the night in Atlanta. I sent them a bottle of wine to sooth their souls. The needed paperwork will be there tonight and they will be on their way to Jamaica tomorrow. Hooray to the Sandals resort who went out of their way to accommodate the date changes.
The wedding is still on – Friday morning in Jamaica. No I am not going, but I will be in Nashville a week later for a major reception, celebration and party.
I told Katie that she would now have a wedding horror story to tell everyone later and that we would deal with the airline when she returns (I’m thinking a free airline ticket for their screw-up). And the mother of the bride will go home soon, take a long soothing bath and know that my baby is ok. Does being a mother and feeling the need to protect and rescue last forever?
