Dysfunctionally Wonderful

Ready for another twisted hicktown, country-girl story? I thought so. I went home last weekend to Conway for my all-time favorite event of the year – the annual fireman’s auction at the Conway Volunteer Fire Department. Go ahead, laugh if you want to. Unless you experience this night first-hand, I do not expect you to understand. And no, there were no firemen bought or sold at this auction, only donated items to raise money for the department. (Sorry ladies!)

The auction was a hit, but the weekend highlight was the family time. All four of my parents and both of my brothers were in town. While I realize that most kids of divorce would not be caught dead sitting at a table with all four parents catching up and gossiping until 1 a.m. over cold beer, I must say that this kind of night is my favorite. That’s right. My family is a little different, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was good to be home!
