“Everything happens for a reason!”

Last week I traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado for the Coldwell Banker Global Marketing Summit. I had never been to Colorado before and it was awesome…after I got over the altitude headache. Our conference was at The Broadmoor a beautiful resort, founded in 1891 and nestled at the foot of the Cheyenne Mountain. NORAD, a hugely sophisticated underground military defense command complex is located inside the Cheyenne Mountain…cool! My husband, Ken, flew out with me and cycled in the mountains while I was in sessions. I had the opportunity to reconnect with CB folks from all over the world…Virginia, Canada, St. Croix, New York, Des Moines, France! I met Lisa Walsh, rep for Coldwell Banker Europe, who wants me to help her develop a new homes marketing program for Ireland! The conference was fun and I sponged up all the media planning and marketing mash I could for 2007. Today I was in a meeting with a client re: their new community Maida Vale, which means Little Venice. Maida Vale will be a private Mediterranean inspired village near UNC featuring homes from $800,000. We discussed the traditional methods we use to market new homes in the Triangle…magazines, newspapers, realtor events, direct mail. The developers are world travelers who spend a great deal of their time in Europe. Everyday they read European newspapers on line. They have friends who have houses all over the world. Theses developers are bringing a slice of Italy to central NC. Suddenly my international CB friends came to mind. Just last week I had made key connections with the rep from Coldwell Banker Europe, Coldwell Banker Caribbean, Coldwell Banker Asia, Latin America, Middle East….Hey! I’ll send my new friends an email and ask them if we can work some relo marketing ideas! Maybe they can suggest some international media buys? Maybe they can help me market to international folks who plan to live in the states when their kids attend UNC and Duke? Wow! Suddenly the world became a lot smaller! I’ve never had the opportunity to advertise across the ponds! It just goes to show…you never know who you’re going to meet next that can plug into another area of your life. Or, as one of my favorite sayings goes “Everything happens for a reason!”
