Exploris Hosts Sneak Preview For Terrorism Exhibit

by MMI

RALEIGH, N.C. – Bonnie Hancock, Exploris president, has announced that the museum will host a Sneak Preview event for its traveling exhibit on terrorism, The Enemy Within: Terror in America, 1776 to Today on Monday, August 21. The event will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m. in Venture Hall in the IMAX building. Local community leaders will have the opportunity to come together for a behind-the-scenes tour of the exhibit, which will be open to the public August 26 through November 26.

This exhibit, which provides a historical perspective on contemporary issues of homeland security and civil liberties, was created by the International Spy Museum in Washington D.C., opened in May 2004, and began its tour around the United States in February 2006 in Oklahoma City. It focuses on nine major events in history when Americans felt threatened by enemies within its borders and includes a timeline that leads up to the September 11th attacks.

“We are pleased to share this important exhibit with our community and its leaders,” said Hancock. “Terrorism in our country has been an issue for much longer than most people realize, and this exhibit displays that fact. Americans have grown stronger as we have faced these challenges throughout the years, and we hope the local community will take advantage of this opportunity to learn about and honor that strength.”
