I have warm fuzzies: Jamie Lynn Spears sent me a Valentine

by Kate Catlin

Are you feeling the love this Valentines Day? If not, go pick up a pack of American Greetings’ new Valentine’s Day cards from Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101, and they will surely give you a chuckle. The cards feature 16-and-pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears in an oversized empire-waist dress proclaiming “Girls Rule” and “Happy Valentines Day to a true sweetheart.”

While the cards may lend laughs for Valentine’s Day cynics, they are truly a poor move for those associated with Jamie Lynn Spears during this touchy time. Jamie Lynn, younger sister of infamous Britney Spears, informed the public on December 18, 2007 of her pregnancy and her publicist has been dealing with the media circus ever since.

American Greetings’ release of the Valentine’s Day cards thus comes at a time that additional publicity, especially on topics of love and dating, is not exactly in Jamie Lynn’s best interest. Jamie Lynn should attempt to fly below the radar while in this sensitive situation, not thrust herself into the spotlight. Parents do not want their young children sending “love notes” with the picture of a pregnant teenager on the front, do they? Are the cards fine or out-of-line? You tell me: what do you think about Jamie Lynn Spears and her Valentine’s Day Cards?
