In search of the ‘Perfect Pair’…..

by Meredith

Well, I thought I would start off my very first blog with a fun recommendation for all you ladies out there. I don’t know if you are like me, but until recently, the thought of going shopping for jeans was enough to send me into a sweat and fever filled tizzy. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my jeans, I wear them whenever possible and socially acceptable. However, in a lot of ways I view the jeans buying experience similar to that of the bathing suit, something that I hate to experience more than once a year. Finding a pair that look great AND that you feel good in, is a rarity. If you are lucky enough to find that special pair that make you look and feel like a supermodel, too often you find the company stops making them. I would like to give a special ‘shout out’ to Lucky Brand Jeans for discontinuing my beloved Jetsetter style last year. And to the ‘evil empire’ fashion designers in Europe who decided that skinny jeans were going to be THE jeans to own this year, I curse you.

For my birthday, my boyfriend gave me a gift card to this great little boutique in North Hills called Rouge. Rouge is a fabulous store with wonderful clothes, jewelry, accessories and jeans from famous designers all over the world. He knew how much I loved jeans and thought I would really enjoy the store and their lovely owner Tracy West.

The Saturday after my birthday, I ventured over to North Hills to visit Rouge. The store was fantastic and I was welcomed the minute I stepped inside the door. Once I started perusing the vast wall of jeans, this fabulous woman with a British accent, immediately came over, introduced herself as Tracy and asked me if she could be of any help. My panic stricken expression and the beads of sweat on my forehead must have given me away. Tracy was amazing to say the least. From asking me what I was looking for in a jean, to helping me find brands and styles that fit my body type, to just being a great sounding board about all of jeans phobias, she was there. After loading up on all of the possible candidates for ‘My Perfect Pair,’ we headed back to the dressing room area where Tracy helped me evaluate all of my options. There were even a spare pairs of high heel shoes nearby so I could examine each pair with different looks. Tracy was honest about what looked good on me, addressing all of my concerns and helping me select a pair of jeans I looked and felt great in. She shed a lot of light on jeans themselves, what washes help you look more slender, where jeans actually shrink, what pocket styles help you achieve a curvier figure, etc. Tracy’s philosophy is that she wants everyone leaving her store looking fantastic and feeling confident in the jeans they purchase from Rouge. If they do, she knows they will want to come back. Well Tracy, you are right, and I will be back. So, I have a new ‘shout out,’ this one to Tracy West for helping me find MY skinny jeans, the dark wash ‘Honey style’ by Joe’s Jeans.

So, if you find yourself in need of a perfect pair of Jeans, take a trip to North Hills and visit the lovely Tracy West and her store, Rouge.

Now if Rouge only sold bathing suits……
