JazzerSize Me Down

by Allison

I thought that a monthly gym payment would inspire me to workout regularly. It did…for about a month. If you’re like me, you know the vicious cycle. The determination hits me all of a sudden. I’m going to the gym at least 4 days a week this year. I’ll even eat right. Then something happens. I can’t make it to the gym tonight because I have an event to attend for work. Tomorrow night is no good either because I’m having dinner with an old friend. Don’t worry. I’ll go in the morning for a little cardio before work. Yeah. Right.

I know what I like in a workout. I like to feel it burn and I like to sweat, but to be honest, unless someone is yelling at me to make me keep going and go harder, I’m probably not going to do either. I need classes. Unfortunately, Planet Fitness does not offer any. When my Sunshine Stacey told me she was training to be a Jazzercise instructor, I did what any good girlfriend would do at first – I laughed. I pictured leg warmers and a sweat band and tried to imagine her leading a group of women in a routine to Bananarama “Cruel Summer.” Priceless.

Stacey told me that she would be taking a few classes in Cary as part of her training and gave me a few more details about the program. My roommate jumped on it even before I did, and before I knew it, Melody and I were strapping on our tights and sweat bands to join the classes ourselves. Just kidding. We had it all wrong. We love it! I’m turning into an addict. Melody and I have been twice a week for two weeks so far with gym time in between. We’re on a mission this time and there ain’t no stopping us now! Stay tuned for an update on our progress. Whooo-hoooo! JAZZERCISE!
