Here are two facts:
1) Most of us are dehydrated.
2) Most of us don’t even know we are dehydrated.
The US RDA of water is 8 glasses of pure water per day. That is for the “average” person. To be more precise, you should divide your body weight in half and drink that much in ounces. So if you weigh 200 lbs, you should drink 100 oz of water per day.
Now, be honest. How many of you know that you are getting enough pure water each day?
By the time your mouth is dry and you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Those signs are signals from your body that it is past time to hydrate. Just like when your stomach growls it is already empty. The key is you don’t want your body to tell you it is in need of water. You must keep it hydrated.
Why is it important to be well hydrated? Here are just a few reasons:
1) Your body is 65% water. All of its major processes (including fat burning) require a medium of water.
2) Water flushes the garbage deposited in your body.
3) Water-soluble vitamins (C and B-Complex) need water for absorption.
4) Your body uses water to regulate temperature.
5) Water is a natural diuretic.
6) Your skin will improve.
The list goes on and on…
It is imperative to drink plenty of water. In the beginning, you will have to run to the restroom every few minutes, but that will eventually change as your body gets used to being hydrated. You will also notice a change in energy level as your body begins to function much better! Adding water to your body is like adding oil to a motor. So, don’t underestimate the value of good ol’ H2O.
