RALEIGH—The N.C. Department of Transportation has announced that it will shift southbound traffic on U.S. 1/64 in Cary, on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be shifted from its current temporary pattern onto newly constructed southbound permanent lanes between Walnut Street and Tryon Road. This shift will place traffic into two of the final lanes with acceleration and deceleration lanes for the ramps. The remaining southbound lanes will remain closed to complete work on the southbound shoulder.

The NCDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, obey the posted speed limit, be aware of construction workers and watch signs for construction information. The fine for speeding in the work zone is $250 and violators may receive three driver license points.
