No, I am not stoned.

I dedicate this blog entry to every single one of you out there suffering from the green dust of the devil. It’s killing me. Until last spring, I never had an itchy eye or a daily sneeze fit. In 2006 it came with fury, and I remember wishing that I could claw my eyes out.

I stocked up on the Claritin-D early this year and refused to let it get the best of me two years in a row. Spring flowers are no fun at all if you can’t SEE them. It wasn’t perfect, but I was surviving the pollen with a lot more class than I did last time…until I went home for the weekend, of course.

My sweet country brother loves his 4-wheeler more than anything, and I promised him that I would go for a ride on Saturday. I grabbed a hat, some old jeans and a pair of his boots – yes, he suddenly has bigger feet than I do – and hopped on the back. We rode for a couple of hours with his friend Will, and we had a good ol’ Conway blast. Problem is, every piece of dust and pollen in every field we touched found its way into my eyes. I’ve been suffering since. I’ve decided that if anyone knows how to remove my eye-balls, I’ll do it…just so I can spray them off with a water hose.

So when you see me this allergy season, just know that I have not picked up a new habit. I itch. I water. I sneeze. I do not have a buzz.
