Guess how excited I was to find out that I would get to spend my entire Saturday at the Flea Market! Not so excited, to be perfectly honest. Don’t get me wrong. I was thrilled to spend some QT in Raleigh with my family, but the thought of walking for hours through a giant yard sale did not exactly appeal to me.
There happened to be a toy show at the fair grounds this weekend. This was right up Ken and Colby’s alley. I felt that it was my duty to rescue my mother from the madness. What I did not expect was to enjoy myself. I was wrong. It only took a few minutes to see that the vendors were just as interesting as the items they were selling.
As we sifted through the mix of absolute trash and hidden gems, we met a few incredible people. People unlike us, who spend their lives carving trees into bed frames with chainsaws, and men who talk about their artistic wives as if they were sent from Heaven.
I left with an iron sunshine, a hot black portfolio purse, and an oh-so-lovely painted window frame. I’ve decided that I will do all of my interior decor shopping at the Flea Market from this day forward. Who needs Pottery Barn when you can shop here?
