Since Patty is out and about on the town today, I thought I would take this opportunity to blog. I would have blogged anyway to tell you about my day. Typically, I’m the person that is ALWAYS in the office. Not today.
I spent this morning in downtown Raleigh with five other ‘experts’ pitching the awesome services of Brogan & Partners, MRPP and MMI, to the North Carolina Department of Tourism. We are one of three finalists for this account. Try selling tourism on one of the grayest, bleakest, wettest days in recent history. – but, we did – and we did it well.
Kind of brings me back to my olden days at Saturn Corporation where I was always making proposals to all kinds of groups. Now, by choice, I have tried to limit my schmoozing to the gang in the office. However, anyone who knows Patty, knows how she can talk anyone into practically anything. She did, and now I’m on the Tourism Team.
When I returned to the office, Patty called and wanted to know ALL the details. What details? We walked several blocks in the rain, rode an elevator, made a presentation and then did the return elevator and walk. Of course, I’m not Patty – no wild rides or people or activities.
Patty on the other hand had a story about her lunch. She said that during the heavy rain, she was making her way across a parking lot only to take a nasty fall on her left shoulder (the same one that is already hurt) and knee. The restaurant manager was falling all over her making sure she was fine. She promised she wouldn’t sue. The manager gave her a free dessert.
It’s never like that for me. Things just don’t happen to me, thank goodness. I’m glad to just be back in the office, but I’m ready if/WHEN the NC Dept. of Tourism comes calling.

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
