Speaking of Women's Health......

by Elizabeth

This weekend, I had the privilege of attending the Speaking of Women’s Health Conference on Sat. at the North Raleigh Hilton. I arrived to bright colors, boas and a boat load of free gifts. The event started with a bang. African Dancers from Tekere Duafe entered the room singing and dancing traditional dances, and they were soon accompanied by Rhythmicity, a cultural percussion group. They both did an awesome job and even dragged some of our clients up on stage to show off their moves – you’ll have to check out the photo gallery on this one. We also received a belly dancing lesson from the dancers at Belly Revelations. They looked so beautiful up there; it’s something that I would not mind learning a bit more! There was so much energy going around in that place – women were dancing, laughing and feeling empowered, all while learning more about their health, wellbeing and personal safety through cooking demonstrations and keynote speakers. The news of the day is what you received for your $30 entry fee. Besides the speakers (who were AWESOME, by the way), a breakfast, lunch, great snacks (like warm bread pretzels), health screenings and sponsor booths, you got a TON of free stuff. I am going to list the items below:

-Maybelline Volum Express Turbo Boost Mascara
-Maybelline Superstay Lip Color
-L’Oreal Color Juice Stick
-Make-up bag
-Garnier Fructis Nourshing Multi-Lights
-Garnier Fructis Fortifying Deep Conditioner
-L’Oreal Eye and Lip Cream
-L’Oreal RevitaLift Complete Day Moisturizer
-Garnier comb and mirror
-Sample of Garnier Fructis Shampoo, Conditioner and Gel
-Sample of L’Oreal Vive Shampoo and Conditioner
-Calendar
-Hanes Socks
-$10 Wal-Mart Card
-Schick Intuition Razor
-American Greetings Cards
-2 Listerine Pocket Mists
-T-Shirt
-Foldable Brush
-Pen
-Nail File
-Umbrella
-Plastic Cup
-Coffee Mug
-2 Stress Balls
-Vitamins
-Compact Mirror
-Kellogg’s Snack Bites
-Large Tote Bag

It’s a wonder I was able to fit all of this stuff into the tote bag we received, although my shoulder was quite sore after the fact! Besides all of the free gifts, the event was a huge success. Everyone I have talked to that attended had the time of their life, and are adamant on spreading the word to everyone they know. It was truly a day to come, enjoy, relax, and have a great time in the company of your “sisters.” My guess is that next year, tickets won’t last more than a week.
