Speaking Of Women’s Health Honors Jill Wolford

RALEIGH, N.C. – Speaking of Women’s Health honored Jill Wolford at the Speaking Of Women’s Health two-day conference on Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15 at the North Raleigh Hilton. Wolford was recognized for her philanthropy work with cancer patients as the founder of the Caring Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to cancer patients in the Triangle. After surviving breast cancer in 1999, Wolford wanted to show her appreciation for the support she received during her recovery and hosted her first of many “Pay It Forward” parties. The parties were designed as fundraisers, where friends, family and neighbors were asked for a small contribution. The first “Pay It Forward” fundraiser event collected $724, but over the years the Caring Community Foundation has raised more than $400,000 and distributed these funds to more than 400 local cancer patients. Currently, the “Pay It Forward” fundraisers are held by businesses, sororities, professional fraternities and individuals throughout the community.
