Today marks the end of my first full week of telecommuting. Hey, telework works! I find that I can concentrate better and be more productive at home than in an office filled with constantly ringing phones and people shouting at each other from one room to another. Some people thrive in that environment. Me, I just get a headache.
The down side to telework is that I am turning into a hermit. Will I lose my social skills? Go nuts after a while? Only time will tell. I do plan to attend the MMI staff meetings on Fridays. Meanwhile, I am busy e-mailing files back and forth to MMI from my workstation at home. Writing is a profession that lends itself naturally to telecommuting.
I just listened to our first MMI podcast, and I was impressed. I can foresee a lot of potential for a writer in podcasting. It will be similar to writing for radio. People will need scripts, because otherwise, their natural tendency is to get a little windy.
