I am working on an article with MMI client Billie Redmond, President of Coldwell Banker Commercial TradeMark Properties , a Raleigh based property management, leasing, and brokerage services company.
In the article, Billie explains all about how she formed an LLC of investors and main tenants to purchase and renovate the old Occidental Building, now called the Coldwell Banker building, located in the desirable Cameron Village area, just minutes from downtown Raleigh.
Interviewing Billie about this renovation project was fun and fascinating. To have the building designated as a national historic landmark, everything Billie’s LLC did had to be approved by the National Park Service, whose goal was to see the building restored as fully as possible to its original condition. Once the reconstruction was complete, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston relocated its corporate headquarters there.
Billie says that people whose family members worked for the Occidental Insurance Company back in the 1950s and 1960s, and who remembered what the building had looked like during those early years, when it was new, have made appreciative comments to the effect that “The building is beautiful, better than before.” Billie says their praise has been very rewarding.
Billie’s article is targeted for the new Revitalization Magazine, the first publication dedicated to professionals responsible for restorative development taking place throughout the country.

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
