Today With Patty – April 2, 2007

by Patty

I am really ready for this pollen to be gone. My car is disgusting, and who wants to sit outside, even though it is beautiful, when everything is covered in green?

We are switching out our accounting system here at MMI and installing a new billing system. Can I tell you how much this is kicking my butt? I do not have that financial gene anyway, so this is definitely difficult for me, although my accountants are thrilled that their little girl is growing up and embracing technology. God knows if I am ever going to get the billing out for this month, and God knows if it will ever be right. I have been in the office all day today, and I was contemplating trying to sneak out and run some errands, but that is definitely not going to happen, because I am still trying to get this billing done. Can you hear me whining?

Kipp is now a married man and on his way to his honeymoon in Savannah. The entire office called him on Friday and sang Going to the Chapel to serenade him before D-Day. Kipp was incredibly nonchalant about the entire thing, as he was about the whole wedding process. As a matter of fact, about two months ago, he scheduled a big event for Thursday night, until I reminded him that that was two days before his wedding, and he may need to go home and get ready by that time. He is such a guy.

Kipp has always been our go-to guy for technology here at the office, and normally I would be flipping with him out of the office for a week. However, we have a wonderful new technology company called Technology Associates, and they rock. Since they have taken over, everything is running hunky dory. They are really good, they do what they say they are going to do and when they say they are going to do it. What a concept.

Job hunting tip #4: Iron your shirt. I do not know what this craze is all about, but applicants, particularly young women, show up for an interview with a wrinkled shirt. I am not talking “I have been sitting at my desk” wrinkled, I am talking “I took it out of the dryer a little damp, threw it into the laundry basket with a bunch of other clothes and then pulled it out and put it on” wrinkled. Invest the $1.50 and have the laundry do your shirt.
