Today With Patty – Aug. 7, 2007

by Patty

This is going to be an interesting entry today. Patty called in from New York City in advance of her flight home this afternoon, and she wanted to share her observations with us all. So in her own voice, with a few explanations in parentheses, here they are:

Here in New York City, it is so unbelievably HUMID! I took the subway, and I cannot tell you how hot it is underground in New York. (Wait until she comes back here to our 100-degree heat today.)

However, I love the city, and every time I come here, I think I need to live here. Not for long – just for six months. (Patty then explained how when she was younger she had the opportunity to live near the United Nations building for a time and did not know until later how good she had it.)

When I visit here, I just tramp all over everything, see everything. I did manage to swing down to Canal Street and pick up some jewelry and slippers that I can only find in New York and nowhere else. The worst part is that my niece Katie wants a Statue of Liberty cigarette light, which I did manage to find, and I have it in my suitcase. I just hope it does not get jostled around and set the suitcase on fire. I hate when that happens.

Tomorrow I will tell you about my bone-crushing, head over heels fall on Saturday night down some stone steps with the coordinating bruise on my face, and the madman ringing on doors at two o’clock in the morning in the New York Athletic Club. Only in New York.
