The reason why this blog was delayed in being posted was because Monday and Tuesday afternoons we were basically unplugged here. Eric Hobbs, president of Technology Associates, was at the office working hard to upgrade our information technology infrastructure. (Those are Kipp’s words, not mine, since I know next to nothing about all this technology stuff. Basically, I hate technology and it hates me.) We love Technology Associates, they are awesome to work with. As part of their overhaul, they required all of us to shut down our computers by 4 p.m., meaning no e-mail, no Internet, no typing of documents, no nothing. On top of that, Kipp had me switch out my cell phone. As you probably can imagine, I did not handle being without all these services well – I was hating it, in fact. I was in withdrawal. I was twitching. But it will be all for the best in the future, or so they tell me.
I still am receiving Christmas cards from people, I do not know who they are, even though they sign their names, and some send pictures of themselves too. Likewise, we have not been receiving any food gifts like we normally do each year. So yesterday, I made some cookies for Kipp to make him happy and shut him up. He has been like a pack of wild dogs, waiting by the door every day to pounce on the UPS guy when he drops off a delivery that Kipp thinks will be a snack. Instead, the delivery man brings toner or paper, and Kipp is all whacked out as a result when no one has sent chocolate or cookies.
Friday night I attended Sheila Ogle’s MRRP party, the agency party of the year. The food was fabulous, as always. We had a great time. Lunch on Saturday was a different story. I went to Hardee’s for food over by the mall. I do not know who is running the place, but it was an awful experience. It was the worst food, and the service was so slow, it was unbelievable. I waited over 15 minutes in the drive-through lane with just two cars in front of me, and I received a small order of curly fries when I paid for a large one (and only half the fries were curly, the rest were regular), sweet tea when I ordered unsweetened, and a chicken salad that was all onions and very little lettuce. It really takes a lot to make me motivated to write a letter of complaint, but I did send the company an e-mail about it, and I received an automatic reply saying “We have received your message. Thank you for contacting us.” This translated to me as “I don’t care.” Good job, Hardee’s!
