Today With Patty – Dec. 8, 2006

by Patty

Meetings, meetings, meetings – why are there so many meetings?! I am supposed to be spending time getting ready for the holidays, and instead all I am doing is going to client meetings. I have decided that there just is not enough time to get ready for Christmas, and I am seriously considering putting it off until Jan. 15th. I have decided that Christmas equals work.

How about a mouth update? The office was supposed to order pizza today for lunch, and for some reason it never happened. So instead, I had to scrape around for an old, hard bagel for my noon repast. That would not have bothered me so much were it not that I have loops of sutures that are now hanging down in my mouth, and it feels like I have a ball of hair in my mouth. The good news is that today is the first day that my mouth does not hurt as much as it did yesterday. I had an epiphany when I realized that today was Day 4 from my surgery, and that when the doctor told me it would take three to five days to feel better, he was right. Sometimes I am as sharp as a marble.

I have a packed weekend with the Speaking of Women’s Health conference to attend on Saturday, as well as two events tonight – a VIP cocktail party at Exploris Museum followed by a holiday gala for MMI client Bryant Phillips at the Capital City Club. What has been so funny is that I am on the executive steering committee for the Exploris event, and everyone has been eagerly discussing what they are going to wear this evening. Almost everyone has gone out and bought a new ensemble, but not me – no time. I figure if it fits, I am wearing it. I know what will happen already. I will tear out of here at 5 o’clock, race home, rip off my clothes, throw something on, have a fight with John because he will be dragging his feet, and race to get to Exploris by 6. I am hoping that people will focus on my sparkling personality and not my outfit.
