I went to Denver this weekend for a quiet trip to visit my cousin Chris and her two daughters. It was just a great weekend, with good downtime to spend time with family. Both girls are excellent volleyball players, and Cassie, a junior in high school, is being actively recruited by colleges. Apparently she has had some interest from Harvard. She told me she is not sure how good the Harvard team is. I explained to her that it does not matter, because she is not going to play volleyball after college, but she would be leaving with a Harvard degree, and that if Harvard came calling, she was to accept it.
Of course, I had to spoil the girls a little and bring them cool things and take them shopping. I will have something to remember Jake by (Jake is my other niece), since she insisted that I try her smoothie to see how good it was and then informed me that she was sick. She spent all day Sunday trying to sleep it off, and when I called yesterday, she had been to the doctor and was on antibiotics. Great.
OK, I am not sick.
I did learn how to play sudoku, and I am crazy for it. I played it all weekend. I did the puzzle the whole way home on the plane yesterday. I am addicted (not to pinot grigio, or maybe I am, but that is for another blog) to sudoku. I love it.
I am not sick.
The flu continues to rage through the office, with Jill out with it yesterday. We hired another account executive, who started yesterday and soldiered on the entire day with it, but ended up succumbing to it today. Her name is “new Allison,” because we have “old Allison” who has worked here for nearly three years. Not only do they share the same name, but also the same birthday! I am not allowed to call her “Allison Two” because “old Allison” was called that and has forbidden me to use it. At least she has a normal name. For some reason, we have a number of people with really unusual names, but they do great work, so what are you going to do?
I am not sick.
Here is some big news: Our very own Wesley Hyatt will be publishing his sixth book, this one on Monday Night Football called Kicking Off the Week. Wahoo! We are so proud of him. We are planning a party for him when his book launches. Stay tuned.
I am not sick. However, I may go home for a little nappy poo, but I am not sick.
