Today With Patty – Feb. 7, 2007

I have had a problem with my heel now for a while. If I walk for any period of time, my heel hurts so bad that I see Jesus. They tell me I have a heel spur, but I really think that if I lost some weight, my heel would be just fine. Keep those unkind thoughts you are thinking right now to yourself.

A couple of years ago, I broke the same heel when I was on a boat and I was jumping to shore to land on what I thought was sand. Unfortunately, it was a big, flat rock lightly covered with sand. So when all 98 pounds of me jumped down and landed on that rock, I broke my heel. This was right after 9/11, and I was flying back and forth between Raleigh and Phoenix every other week. You can just imagine the fun I had going through security and having to get patted down and then explain why I could not take my cast off, because this was back in the days when they did not have chairs for you to sit on. I do not even want to get into the problems they had with scanning and wanding my crutches. As you can imagine, I was the soul of cooperation. But I digress.

What I really meant to tell you is that I have been seeing a number of medical professionals about my heel problem. Dr. Darcy White at the Iatria Spa and Health Center, who is one of our wonderful clients, suggested that I see her acupuncturist, Dr. Andre Tse, for my heel. He is my new favorite person. My heel was significantly better after one treatment, and I am darn near healed (get it?) after three. I am going to have one more treatment, and then I am going to try to take a big walk and see how I do. I cannot say enough good things about this guy. Besides, anybody who massages my feet, I will follow them anywhere. I am going to have him work on other stuff, so I will keep you posted.

We had a coupon class here at MMI last weekend, and while I have never been one to clip coupons, I am impressed with those who do. So of course, I perused all the sale papers, and I am happy to report that I found SpaghettiOs for 69 cents a can at Eckerd for Ryal. However, I have heard from Ryal that his parents told him he has to knock off the SpaghettiOs.
