I met the most amazing woman today when Allison, Kristin and I went to a luncheon hosted by our client, Landquest Development. We were there to learn about Landquest’s work on the Flying Fish Project, a nonprofit charity that provides resources for orphan children at the Christian Haitian Outreach in Jeremy and Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Leading the effort is 87-year-old Eleanor Workman, know simply as “Mother” to one and all, who has spent more than 30 years in Haiti, where she has founded and managed two orphanages with more than 180 children, a health clinic and two schools serving more than 1,100 students. The Flying Fish Project collects monetary and material donations such as diapers, food, clothing, toys, books, medical supplies and tools to be distributed among the needy in the Caribbean.
Now, I should tell you that Mother had a long day already by that point. Allison had taken her to the WPTF radio studios to do an interview at 6 a.m. this morning. Let me say this: For an 87-year-old woman who had been up since 4 a.m., she looked absolutely fantastic at the luncheon. I could only hope to look have that put together when I am her age.
Anyhow, we, along with the Landquest staff and a few other invited guests, heard Mother tell the story of her life, and what an incredible journey she had encountered over the years. There was tears, singing and prayer included in her presentation. It was a truly moving event. I truly felt that I was in the presence of someone like Mother Teresa.
I am proud to say we are going to be working with Landquest to help them assist Mother and her cause, and we would love for you to join our effort. So if you are reading this, get your butt in gear and deliver money and goods to the Landquest office at 5511 Capital Center Drive, Ste. 105, in Raleigh. Also, I plan to raise $30,000 to build her a medical clinic at the orphanage – so get you checkbooks out too. I will match whatever you give. You can read more about Mother and her story in Allison’s blog for this week.

The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
