Today With Patty – Jan. 15, 2007

I have had a busy weekend. I bought a new car, and of course it is a convertible, so I look young, thin and rich while I am driving it – or so I think. I have become quite pretentious now with my new vehicle. By the way, who needs a 400-page owners manual? I guess the car is smarter than I am. I cannot figure out how to do the smallest things. Just figuring out how to put down the window is interesting. But don’t get me wrong, because I really love my new car.

Saturday night we went to dinner at Daniel’s Restaurant and Catering in Apex with my husband’s boss. The food was fabulous, and we had a great time, but I had to be on my best behavior – I was trying very hard to be an asset and not an arse for my husband’s sake!

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful. We met up with friends for breakfast, and I ran errands and then spent a lovely evening with our neighbors sitting on the deck of their house drinking wine and admiring their daffodils, which are in bloom! I just cannot understand this weather. It is not that I do not enjoy it, it is just that one of two things will happen soon, neither of which I am looking forward to experiencing. It is either going to stay warm and the bugs will be as big as elephants this summer, because we have had two years now of extremely warm weather, or we are going to get socked with the mother of all snowstorms/ice storms, which means that no one will come to work, and since I do not believe in snow days, the staff will have to work from home and figure out ways to pitch our clients in a snowstorm. I have not even worn a coat this winter, that is how warm it has been.
