I am back in my office after the holidays, fat and bloated and slow and generally not at my best. I have been eating all matter of crap for weeks and weeks now, and it shows. I had a nice quiet New Year’s weekend where I worked all weekend getting caught up doing billing, closing out files for the old year, and of course starting up files for the new year. And when I was not doing that, I was picking up all the Christmas stuff and packing it away. Why is it so much fun to decorate a tree and just like a root canal when it comes to taking it down? Of course this year I had to have two trees, and my psychotic, neurotic and bulimic cat Katie Scarlet took a liking to one of them. I had put on this seashell garland that by the end of the Christmas season was just a big tangled mess thanks to the wonder cat. But the house always seems so remarkably uncluttered and clean when the decorations are taken down.
If you recall before New Year’s, I blogged about my experiences with area department stores. I had e-mailed Macy’s after spinning my wheels trying to find a crystal cordial set with decanter they had on sale. Well, I heard back from them, and essentially Macy’s said, “That’s too bad, we cannot help you. Here is a list of all of our stores nationally – why don’t you call each and every one of them individually and see if they have it?” Gee, thanks, Macy’s. Why did I not think of that? Is that great customer service or what?!
Today we had Jill and Margaret join us, two new employees. Of course, we did not quite have everything ready for them when they arrived, so this morning was interesting, as we were trying to get our act together and make sure that desks and phones and e-mails and computers were all ready. Luckily, the fellows from Technology Associates were here, they were great, and it has been so nice having somebody who knows what they are doing handle our IT needs. We love working with them. So, bear with us if you call or e-mail someone as we try to get it all sorted out. Oh, and these new people want chairs too! Have to go – must spend lots of money on new employees.
