Man, is it hot! When I lived in Arizona, it would get to be 120 degrees, and it would be unbelievably hot, like a blast furnace. So I moved to the Triangle, and it is unbelievably hot like a blast furnace, but it has the humidity kicker, like breathing water.
At least we get rain, and it cools things down. Yesterday I was downtown when it started to rain, and for some reason there were big fat raindrops, so I ducked into Cooper’s and came out with dinner – barbecue, cole slaw and hushpuppies. There is nothing better.
Today the guys from Bryant-Phillips showed up to redo my laundry room floor. They assured that they would be able to have my floor done by Saturday, when I am hosting the “Suppa Club” (a gourmet dinner alternating among some friends) at my house that night. I think somebody at Bryant-Phillips told them I was high maintenance. Can you imagine that?
I got to play client today and did two interviews, one for the Orlando Sentinel on company perks, and one for the Triangle Business Journal on communication and crisis PR. Then I had a great lunch at Cindy’s House Café on Chatham Street, but I could not finish it, so I brought the leftovers to Ryal, my personal garbage disposal.
This afternoon I had a meeting with Technology Associates, and I had to be on my best behavior with them so that they will keep me as a client. As you may recall, they saved my arse when our computers crashed two weeks ago, so I guess I now have two angels in my life – Scott at Technology Associates and John Grider, my telephone guru. Everybody needs at least one angel in their lives.
