My apologies about not blogging these past few days. I am just under water right now with so much work to do, and everybody is on vacation, and it just never ends. Why am I not on vacation? Oh wait, I just got back from vacation.
Somehow I always complain about customer service. Today I want to tell you about a recent example of amazing customer service. We have a phone system at MMI that we have maxed out, and we need to add new phones but the system needs more stuff to make it work. So I am calling people and trying to find out what we need, and nobody seems to know and it is all very complicated, and the entire process is making my arse ache.
I finally stumbled on a message board of telephone gurus that talk to one another about this stuff. Now, I hate technology, and technology hates me. So I put a message on this board that I am looking to expand my system, and I do not really know what I need to do or how I am supposed to do it. Within four hours, these guys answered my post, figured out what I needed and anticipated everything that needs to be done, including who is going to install it. An angel by the name of John Grider not only solved my problem, he also located the equipment for me, had it shipped and even said “Don’t worry about it, I will just send you a bill.” Who does that in this day and age?! And the guy actually went into my phone system and changed passwords so I cannot get hacked. John Grider is my hero – call him in Florida at (904) 808-8546 if you are in a situation like mine.
I went to the North Carolina Education Ball Saturday night, and it was a smash. The people putting it on did a fabulous job, and it was great fun. My husband was so thrilled that he had to wear a tuxedo again. He really, really, REALLY does not like wearing a tux and being hot at the same time, and he is not afraid to share that with me.
Tonight the MMI team is headed to the Durham Bulls game, where we have a special box. It should be a fun evening when all the MMI crew is there, cheering on the local team. I of course have no idea who they are playing, because Ryal and Kipp will tell me it is the Detroit Pistons, and I do not know enough to recognize that is a football team (right?). They are quite brutal to me about my lack of knowledge of sports. As with technology, I hate sports and sports hates me.
So if you are at the game tonight, look for the big group all wearing Durham Bulls hats – that will be MMI. I will give you a full report on the highlights tomorrow.

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
