Even though Scotland has been less than a week ago, it seems like a year later. I have been running as hard as I can to catch up, and I just am not getting there. What complicates matters, in addition to being out of town and backed up on work, is that I still have company in from out of town, and for some reason they expect to be fed and entertained occasionally.
I got up early (and I mean EARLY!) every day this weekend and came into work – I put in probably 12 hours on Saturday and probably another five or six on Sunday. The real reason is that when I planned this trip, I was not thinking that it would be the end of the month when I returned from Scotland, and I have to get billing done. And billing must be done, as we have all these chirping mouths to feed called staff!
We did drive to Winston-Salem yesterday to see my 90-year-old aunt, who tripped on a curb at McDonald’s and fell and broke her hip. In addition to fries, I smell lawsuit! To say that she is ticked at the inconvenience of it all is an understatement. She is as mean as a snake and making life hell for everybody in rehab at Forsyth Hospital. Do you think she will see Lindsay Lohan in the halls (rehab – get it)? Of course we took the old crones with us, they have vowed to be very careful and not fall and break their hip. Good tip.
One bright spot through all this is that I have been hustling home to cook every day. John is mighty happy about that!
