Today With Patty – June 5, 2007

by Patty

I had a great lunch today with Sheila Ryba, the CEO of the Poe Center, who is my new best friend. She is absolutely hilarious and so much fun. We had a long talk about all the great restaurants in the Triangle and wanting to take shag lessons. We plan to set up a night to go shag dancing as soon as I can figure out where you can do that here. It should be hilarious, since I am not known for my rhythm. In fact, I am so bad that I have to watch when other people are clapping so I can too.

Tonight I have the last meeting – thank God! – for the Women’s Forum Gala committee meeting. The absolute only reason that they are getting me to go is that there is wine involved (wine, not whine – we have had more than enough of that already in previous meetings). I am so glad this event is over, and then we are all going to go out to dinner somewhere tonight. I do not know where yet – I will keep you posted.

I took the car away from the old crones – my mother and my aunt – because they were out gallivanting around, and I have sewing for my mother to do. She is hemming things and making new pillows for my guest bedroom, and I have her working on a plaid tablecloth for my next “Suppa Club,” because we are going to do the whole Scottish theme for the evening. So I chained her to the sewing machine today and told her to get cracking.
