Today With Patty – June 8, 2007

by Patty

We had the gala and renaming celebration last night for The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences. It was a great party. Everything went flawlessly. Dr. Bill Greenlee was the emcee for the event and was eloquent. Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue gave a great speech, and all in all, it was a wonderful evening to honor a very good man, Dr. Charles Hamner, a true visionary.

Today I went and had my hair done, and I do not know if it was the beer in Scotland or the scotch, but it got really long, really fast. But then, my hair has always grown really fast. I explained to my hairdresser that my layers were kind of long and that we should cut my LAYERS. Somehow she heard HAIR. So right now, I have really, really short hair. However, the girls insist that it is fine, and it will be great for the convertible. I know it is short when all three of the guys upstairs noticed it right away, and the only time they notice me is when I have food.

This afternoon I am taking my mother and aunt to Charleston to visit my 91-year-old uncle. It will be another rip roarin’ weekend as I watch them play cards and do the crosswords. However, I will probably be playing sudoku, so I guess I am not much better. My goal this weekend will be to get into a pool at some point and check out my wash-and-wear hair.
