I had quite the musical weekend. Friday night, I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts It was absolutely a Broadway class production. I was really impressed. The cast’s voices were fabulous. The arrangements were a little stylized for my taste, but I cannot complain, because it really was just fabulous.
Saturday night, we went to see Billy Joel. How I got to go is an interesting story. A friend of mine called late Friday afternoon saying that she had tickets to a box and a VIP parking pass for the RBC Center, where Joel was performing. So I jumped on it. I have not seen Billy Joel in concert for probably 20 years, and I worried that since he has not had an album out in 14 years that there might be a touch of what I experienced with the Temptations a week ago. Not the case. Billy Joel rocks. It was great to know every song and the words to every song. He had so much fun, and he was so engaging, it was just a great experience. He had one of his roadies come out and sing “Highway to Hell” – that was hilarious.
Now, when we went to the box, the other people who were there were like us and did not know whose box it was either, and there was no signage in the box to indicate its owner. So to whoever owns Box 224 at the RBC center, this is a shout out to say thanks!
But here is the best part. About 10 minutes after the concert started, in walked in these four people, and they said hello and introduced themselves, then sat up in the bar area of the box, and not in the seats. Since none of us knew each other, we did not know who they were. At the end of the night, we were finishing our beers and waiting for the traffic to subside when we realized that those four people had left their tickets on the counter. And those tickets were not for the box! They had completely scammed their way in. Now that takes guts – more guts than I would ever have.
I am in the office most of the day, and I am happy to report that Caroline has started today, and we are mighty excited to have here on board. She loves all things technical, and I hoping she will be just like Kipp – without the smart mouth.
But the best thing is that I have a client coming to see me shortly, and I spilled an entire cup of coffee down the front of my white turtleneck. I look lovely. I am a spazz.
