Today With Patty – March 6, 2007

I met the most fascinating man today – Dr. Charles Hamner. He is the most intelligent, accomplished and humble man I have ever met. Brilliant and soft-spoken. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with him. I am in the process of reading Good to Great right now, and Dr. Hamner is the epitome of a Level 5 leader. Most leaders are Level 4, but he is really the kind of leader who can transform organizations. It was an honor to meet him and hear his story. We are really excited to be working with him.

My most favorite banker in the whole world, Jonathan Taylor of Crescent State Bank, came by today. He is planning his annual breakfast for the Occoneechee Council Boy Scouts – try saying that three times fast – and of course yours truly has to do the PR. Pro bono. But you cannot say no to Jonathan.

Last night I had Girls Night Out at Michael Dean’s Restaurant and availed myself of their Monday night special – dinner for two and a bottle of wine for $40. Only for some mysterious reason, you received one appetizer to share and a choice of a salad or soup. But it costs more to order the soup, only you are not told of this when ordering. I never did figure out why that was the case, and I just said the heck with it and went ahead and paid the extra cost. The food was very good and the wine was – as always – good.

Tonight I am going to the Women’s Forum Gala meeting, where I am doing – guess what? – the PR. How come they never put me on the finance committee? Jennifer Terry is chairing the committee, and she promised me that the meeting will only be one hour. I will report in tomorrow and let you know if that happened.
